CTA CENTRE LTD WINS CPCS APPROVAL 

We are delighted to announce that on the 6^th August 2008, we got the contract to complete CPCS technical tests at our extensive Centre in Barnstaple. 

This again is a first for the company being the 1^st in the South West to originally get CITB/CTA approval back in 1991 and now being the 1^st in Devon, Cornwall & Somerset to achieve test centre status, showing our commitment to the CPCS Scheme and to ensure that all candidates undertake their tests on a modern machine in a modern test centre. 

The new CPCS Technical Test is designed to eliminate the paperwork that was in place and emphasise more on the operating/knowledge ability of the candidate rather than the ability of the candidate to be able to write/spell. 

The test now comprises a new theory test and a new practical test.   The theory test consists of answering 70 odd questions on the technical aspects of the category being taken, should the candidate fail the theory, the practical will not be undertaken.   The theory WILL be recorded on a Dictaphone to ensure consistency of tests completed. 

The practical test is more demanding than the previous test with a time limit in place to ensure the operative is not only a good operator but can also work to time limits posed.
